WHO ARE REASON AUTOMATION?
Reason Automation was founded by former Amazon vendor managers, marketers, and software engineers. We understand all facets of enterprise e-commerce data—from which KPIs matter, to building reliable data pipelines, to structuring that data for analysis. Our team ran weekly business reviews and deep dives at Amazon for some of Earth’s largest consumer brands.
Now we help brands manage their businesses the same way Amazon does—powered by big data. We believe democratizing access to data-driven insight creates more durable, successful businesses whether you are a vendor, seller, consultant, agency, or acquirer. Reason serves that mission by bringing your business data out of Amazon systems and into software you already use.
PRINCIPLES
Who we strive to be, as people and a company.
——
Act with kindness.
Kindness is a choice, not a personality trait. Nobody is perfect but it’s important that we choose to be generous in our interactions with each other. The world is full of brilliant jerks who can create amazing things—at other companies.
——
Be of service.
Service is the act of helping or doing work for someone. We created a service business because we are motivated by hard work and helping others. By empathizing with customers, we help shoulder their problems and share their joy in success.
——
Be curious.
There is a direct relationship between success and your desire to learn and improve yourself. As a small, young company we depend on each other’s natural curiosity and tenacity to stay engaged while working remotely.
——
Deliver results.
Reason’s mission is to create more successful, durable businesses for our clients. Fulfilling that mission takes a relentless focus to deliver work on-time at high quality. There is no faster way to earn trust, with customers or with each other.
Why People Choose Reason
——
Customers like us.
Let’s face it—work is more fun when customers like you. We consistently receive five-star reviews on Google and Trustpilot for best-in-class service.
——
We’re easy to work with.
Our Glassdoor reviews tell the story. We accomplish more when we like working with each other, so we hire kind people and make ourselves available to them.
——
Control your schedule.
Minimal meetings. No set working hours. Our team members have the scheduling freedom that parents, students, and other busy humans need.
——
Full remote.
Launched mid-pandemic in 2020, remote work built the company. Our collaboration toolkit includes Slack, Notion, Jira, Airtable, and (of course) Zoom.
——
Small company vibe.
Working on a small business means working closely with the founders, celebrating wins every week, and endless opportunities to learn and grow.
——
No hustle culture.
Many startups imply success is inevitable if you make work the primary focus of your life. We believe we can be successful without sacrificing our families, hobbies, and passions.

Analytics dashboard availability is language-dependent and may vary by region.
Setup time depends on the amount of data in your Amazon account. Backfilling and auditing all available data takes 1 business day for small brands, and up to 10 business days for brands with large catalogs or high transaction volumes.
No registration necessary. We can provide data for any Vendor or Seller account, regardless of age or developer status.
Our analytics plans include 5 or more users, depending on subscription tier. Additional users can be added for a small fee.
We check Amazon's systems multiple times per day for updates. When we detect new data from Amazon, we take a daily 14-day snapshot (i.e. every day we record 14 trailing days of data). Where we see changed data, we update to the latest data presented by Amazon.
Data backfill is the process of importing all available historical data from Amazon's systems and APIs into your new database. A historical data backfill is included for all new Reason Automation customers and includes all data available at the time of setup.
Month-to-month subscriptions are billed on a per-month basis. There is no commitment and you may cancel at any time; your service will lapse at the end of the period in which you cancel, and you will not be charged the following month.
Annual subscriptions are billed on a per-month basis at a reduced rate, with a commitment term of twelve (12) months.
Once authorized, Reason connects to your account via Amazon’s APIs and workflows to access data. We convert the resulting reports into PostgreSQL database tables, at the lowest granularity available (e.g. we record transactions at the transaction level, instead of aggregating, when possible).
Your data is stored in a secure Postgresql database hosted by Microsoft Azure or Snowflake.
No development experience or resources are necessary, but you may benefit from the following skills:
Experience or education with data architecture
Basic knowledge of SQL: select statements, joins, subqueries
Experience with organizational functions, such as VLOOKUP in Excel
Since our dashboards are built in Microsoft Power BI, any experience using that tool will be relevant to using BASIS.
Not yet! APIs are useful tools for power users, but many business users are frustrated by them: the promise of scalable, flexible access to data means different things to different audiences. We opted to make data easy to access for business users, vs. easy to programmatically access for software developers.
