DATA DICTIONARY

Reason Automation’s data dictionary is now available to the public. Our goal was to create a comprehensive reference of Vendor Central and Seller Central reports available through our service, that includes table names, columns in the table, data type, and descriptions. Using filters, you can quickly access specific reports and see what each report contains.

We realize that Amazon data can be very difficult to work with, so we wanted to make this resource accessible to an audience beyond our customers. We believe understanding how your data is structured and stored is critical for planning complex analysis and driving business decisions.

WHAT IS A DATA DICTIONARY?

Broadly, a data dictionary provides “metadata” about a database—in other words, data about data. The dictionary provides information about data types and definitions, that help users of the database understand how to find and use data. This is especially helpful when working with a large database that contains many tables.

WHAT IS CONTAINED IN OUR DATA DICTIONARY?

Our dictionary lists all of the reports, table names, columns in the tables, data types, and descriptions available in Vendor Central and Seller Central. As new reports become available, we will update the data dictionary accordingly.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE THE DATA DICTIONARY?

  1. Report selection. A quick look at the data dictionary allows you to see the extensive Amazon data that Reason is able to provide. We realize the importance of gathering all information before making decisions, thus you can look at the data dictionary to see which of Reason’s reports would best serve your business.

  2. Dashboard design. For business analysts and reporting analysts, a quick glance at and analysis of the data dictionary allows for creating a vision of reporting mechanisms. Valuable information such as the granularity of data for potential primary keys is provided.

  3. Definition alignment. With potential different interpretations and definitions of Amazon terms, the data dictionary can provide continuity.
